In short: we keep only what the game needs to work. We never sell your information, never show personalised adverts, and never let strangers chat with children. You can delete your account and everything in it at any time in Settings.

Who we are

Smarty Party is a family quiz game made by Veilstorm in Liverpool, UK. Veilstorm is responsible for the information described here. Contact: hello@veilstorm.uk.

What we keep, and why

Information	Why
Username and password (we only store a scrambled version of the password)	So you can log in
Birth month and year (not the full date)	To pick questions for your age and keep age rules (for example, adult rooms)
Your character and the style you choose	So other players see the look you picked
Friends, and chat messages between friends	So friends can play and talk together
Game results (Head to Head, Quiz Royale, Daily Quiz), trophies, badges and leagues	For your profile, ratings, leaderboards and leagues
Notifications you've been sent, and your phone's notification address (only if you turn notifications on)	To tell you about invites, challenges and results
For players under 13: the parent's or guardian's name, email, year of birth and choices	To record that a parent agreed, and what they allowed
Reports you send about a question or a chat	So we can fix wrong questions and keep chat safe

Guests (playing without an account) are only known by the name they type for that game. On your phone, the app remembers your settings (like sound and theme) and keeps you logged in; this stays on your phone.

We don't collect your location, contacts, photos, real name (unless you use it as your username), or any payment details.

Children

Players under 13 need a parent or guardian to agree before they can add friends, chat, join leagues or play people they don't know. Until then they can play party games, the Daily Quiz and the computer.
The parent chooses what's allowed and sets a PIN, so only they can change it (Settings → Parent controls).
Chat is only between friends, never with strangers. Whenever anyone in a chat is under 18, a clean-language filter is always on. Any chat can be reported to us, and a friend can be removed at any time.
Children never see personalised adverts. If adverts are added to the game, players under 13 won't see any.
We follow the UK Age Appropriate Design Code: high privacy settings by default for children.

Who can see what

Other players see your username, character, style, title and trophies, and your game results on leaderboards and your profile.
Your friends can also see whether you're online, and the messages you send them.
The game's admin (Veilstorm) can see birth months and years, reports, and the chats that are reported.
We don't share your information with anyone else, except where the law requires it.

Where it's kept, and for how long

Everything is stored on Smarty Party's own server. We keep it while you have an account. Notifications are deleted after 30 days. When you delete your account (Settings → Delete my account), your account, friends, messages, results, badges and any parent's details are deleted straight away.

Notifications

Notifications are off until you turn them on. You can turn them off at any time in your phone's settings.

Your rights

You (or your parent, if you're under 13) can ask to see, correct or delete your information, or ask us any question about it, by emailing hello@veilstorm.uk. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and tell players in the game about anything important.
